The National Anti-Bullying Centre (ABC) está situado en el Instituto de Educación de la Dublin City University. El ABC es un centro nacional de investigación que lleva a cabo investigaciones sobre el acoso escolar y laboral. Desde su fundación en el Trinity College hace 21 años, el ABC ha liderado el campo de la investigación en el ámbito del acoso escolar y laboral en Irlanda y es un centro de excelencia reconocido internacionalmente en la investigación sobre el acoso, que ocupa un papel único a nivel mundial en la provisión de recursos y formación a aquellos que desean abordar el acoso escolar y laboral, combinando un centro de recursos de aprendizaje, una línea de ayuda y un servicio de asesoramiento, con una dedicación a la investigación. Ha recibido importantes fondos de la Fundación Calouste Gulbenkian, del Departamento de Educación y Formación, de la Autoridad de Salud y Seguridad, del Consejo de Investigación Irlandés y de la UE para proyectos de investigación en el ámbito del acoso escolar y la violencia. El Centro mantiene numerosas asociaciones internacionales de investigación estratégica, incluidos centros de investigación en Canadá, Suiza, Australia, Estados Unidos, Finlandia y Noruega (CORE-Net: www.uis.no/core-net/).

The centre provides:

• Up to date scientific information and resource material to professionals, research students, media and lay people, e.g. TV series “The ABC of Bullying”

• International Research Conferences with internationally recognised experts for the dissemination of up to date research and practice to professionals, researchers, practitioners and the general public.

• Workshops of one/two days duration in the public and private sector for management and other employees on Dealing with Workplace Bullying; information given is based on the results of on-going quantitative and qualitative research by the Centre, and findings by other researchers in the area.

• Reports and recommendations for organisations, including assistance in the development of policies, independent investigations into allegations of bullying for the public and private sector, mediation service between recipients and alleged perpetrators of negative behaviours, independent psychological assessments used in the legal resolution of allegations of bullying and harassment; expert witness in the High Court and at Employment Appeals Tribunals.
